Texas Schools to Receive Funding for School Lunch Programs

Students throughout the state of Texas should soon see an improvement in the quality and the nutrition of their school-provided lunches. According to the Texas Department of Agriculture, the state recently received $11 million in federal funding - all of which is part of the recently passed stimulus package - with which they will be able to upgrade, update, and replace food preparation equipment throughout the state's schools.

Tech Jobs Remain Relatively Strong in Texas

Although job loss and general unemployment has been a major concern around the country, a new report put out by TechAmerica indicates that the technology industry found throughout the state of Texas has not been hit as hard as the private sector throughout the nation. While the number of tech jobs in Texas did decline by 0.6% during the fourth quarter in 2008, the private sector experienced a nationwide decline of 1.3%.

Foreign Investors Still Investing in Austin Property

Despite the fact that the global real estate marketplace has been struggling over the past several months, the Association of Foreign Investors in Real Estate (AFIRE) reports that Austin is still considered an attractive investment among foreign investors.
According to the new report, Austin tied for the 11th place spot among foreign investors interested in investment opportunities within the United States. This is actually up from the 2008 survey, at which time Austin ranked in the number 16 spot.

Austin Ranks in the Top 10 for Job Growth

Considering the current economic troubles the world is currently facing, much of the state of Texas is faring remarkably well in terms of job growth.
